Lakeway Resort and Spa on Lake Travis, Austin Texas

When my friend Michelle asked me to come to Austin for South by Southwest, I was wearing my “international travel snob” hat. I half-jokingly said, “I just flew in from London and I don’t do Texas.” A few hours later, I had booked my flight to Austin and was researching hotels for the trip. Lucky for me, everything was booked. That’s right, I said “lucky.” If it wasn’t for the thousands of responsible travelers who had wisely booked their South by Southwest accommodations months prior, I would not have had such an amazing hotel experience at Lakeway Resort and Spa just outside of Austin. Of all the resorts, hotels and spas I have stayed at in the states, Lakeway Resort and Spa was certainly my new favorite. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the room was large with a balcony right over the waters of Lake Travis. We were about 40 minutes outside of Austin which turned out to be ideal for more than one reason: Peace and quiet once we were away from the nonstop drunken partying of South by Southwest patrons. The resort was also ideally just across the way from Lakeway Marina where we rented a boat and took a self-tour of countless mansions facing the waters and just down the road, was the famous Oasis- a restaurant and shopping hot spot offering unobstructed lake views.

For those of you looking for a short holiday getaway, I would recommend taking advantage of Lakeway Resort’s latest offers. They often have specials for long weekends and short holidays. This resort and spa is ideal for those wanting a little distance from the party crowd. The resort offers large swimming pools with swim up bar, whirlpool, live music poolside, full service spa, 24 hour fitness center, lakeside dining, nearby golf courses, tennis, boating and sailing. For families, there’s a kid’s zone, kid’s activities, a kids slide at the pool, family movies and S’mores by the fire pit.
