Jeni Hott, Blogger, Entrepreneur, Humanitarian

My name is Jeni Hott. I’m a professional blogger, internet entrepreneur, activist, and humanitarian.

Blogging has allowed me the freedom to travel the world…. tango in Argentina, tequila tasting in Mexico, racing in Australia, Pirate Fest in Caymans, camel racing in Egypt, wake-boarding in Canada, skiing in Dubai….

You may have seen me speak on stage, on TV, documentaries, or on the radio… or maybe you ran into me at Starbucks, mentioned you wanted to start a blog, and I offered to help. Regardless of how you found the site, welcome!

A little about me…

I’m a bit of a granola mom, have a pile of degrees including a doctorate soon, I’m absolutely travel-obsessed and love living abroad. I can wake up in the morning and spontaneously end up in Cabo that evening. I’m always looking for new things to try- Whether it’s unusual foods [bacon martinis (recommend), hairy pig back (do not recommend), dirty fries in Edinburgh (haggis), french fries served in a shoe (LA, where else?)..] or new adventures like:

  • “1700 petroglyphs over there and all I have to do is climb that treacherous rock? Let’s do this.”
  • “Why yes, I WOULD like to pet the baby alligator!”
  • “So how do you feed the shark again- like this?”
  • “I know this is your felucca and I’m in a ballgown, but can I give it a go? I’ve never sailed on the Nile before.”

I’ve been making money online since 1996, a professional blogger since 2005, and 6 figure blogger since 2007.  In 2008, I became the world’s first 7 figure blogger…. and in 2013, my blogs crossed 100 million views, while I was traveling the world, working once every few months.

And THAT, is what I have become known for… “the 7 figure blogger that doesn’t work.”

I’ll let you in on a little secret though… I do work. I just work smart, and believe in my family motto; “When work cuts into play, it’s time to cut out on the work!” I also believe very strongly in one thing that I attribute to my success: Helping others.

Those two things have been magic in my life, and it brings me great joy to share the many strategies I have created around them.

……………………………

A little more about me….

  • Jeni Hott is considered to be one of the first truly successful bloggers in the world, bringing a new light to “blogging” in the business world.
  • Successful 7 figure blogger, speaker, online entrepreneur and humanitarian.
  • Recognized by Google as one of the most widely read bloggers on the web, with over 100 million visits to her blogs.
  • Longtime collaborator with both Google America and Google Latin America on AdSense for testing and general insight.
  • Known for humanitarian efforts and contribution through blogging and social media.
  • Featured in Living Dot Com documentary, TV interviews, radio and podcast interviews, etc.

You may have seen me speak, heard me interviewed on the radio, or know me from the movie “Living Dot Com”  where I was acknowledged for crossing $100k/month and 100 million blog visits milestones back in 2013- giving a little more clout to the blogging industry.

Overall, I’m known as “that blogger that makes a whole lotta money, while traveling the world and working once every 3 or 4 months.”  While that may be true, I also take pride in being considered a pioneer of the blogging industry, a advocate for the online entrepreneur, and above all… a voice for countless charitable projects.

GBU PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT 2020: In January, 2017, I lost my baby sister and beloved 11 year old niece as the result of longterm domestic violence and bullying.  It has truly changed the lives of myself, my family, and our friends. This tragedy inspired me to do something beyond donations, bringing food to the homeless and sending shoes to children halfway across the world.  I decided to do something on a much larger scale and am starting a project designed to encourage my fellow bloggers to incorporate charitable and humanitarian causes into their blogs.  Thegbu.org

To date, I have started 3 NonProfit organizations including upcoming, GBU; an organization that serves to unite bloggers for humanitarian causes, while also providing resources and ethical guidelines for a better blogosphere.

On a personal note… I love being a mother to my son, London. I’m a huge sushi buff and a travel fanatic (Spoiledtraveler.com.)  I love talking about blogging, helping new bloggers get started and am happy to share my trade secrets in exchange for turmeric lattes.

What are my blogs?

I have a handful of successful blogs, and use pen names for each. I used to share these as examples when I spoke and in interviews, but unfortunately, this led to the niches being flooded with sites that were in the niches for money, and not really adding value. A few of these niches were impacted so badly, they became spammy and no longer taken seriously. This is an unfortunate consequence of individuals pursuing blogging niches for money vs. adding value and following their passion. Back to the point though, I do appreciate the respectful understanding of this decision, and I do share other blogs that I have created or use for testing, simply to help others see how I do things in the blogosphere.

How I started blogging…
My story is an interesting one, and I hope it inspires you…

In 2006, I had moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico from the US. That year, I earned around $1,300… for the entire year. When I first started blogging, there was very little in the way of instruction guides for making money online,  let alone on “how to make money blogging.” Back then, I would have given anything to have that available. I now count this as a blessing because I was forced to test, test, and test some more, ultimately developing my own strategies for what really works. Not only what works, but what brings in the money, ethically and with as little effort as possible.  If you would like to hear the entire story, read on: How I started Blogging or watch this video: Jeni Hott – 7 Figure Blogging Tips.
